Sean Taylor Makes Pro Bowl

Sean Taylor has been voted in to the pro bowl posthumously, discuss this at extremeskins. I'm not sure how much this means in the grand scheme of things, but it seems to be a nice honor to Sean Taylor that he deserved. During the early part of the season he led the league in interceptions. Taylor led voting while living and had 5 interceptions despite missing two games. I hope the Taylors are recovering and appreciate this honor to a man who was constantly improving himself as a human and football player.

A video of 2007 ST highlights against the Packers, for more 2007 videos check out scruffylookin5 on youtube.com.

Rest in Peace Sean, you'll be missed by NFL fans everywhere. Writing and thinking about this whole thing still makes a bit sick and saddened, and so I believe this will be my last post about Sean Taylor. I wish the best for his family.

Sean Taylor Assassinated

I guess the title may be harsh, but it is time to call a spade a spade. When someone breaks in and leaves a "dagger on the bed" its not a robbery, that is a threat. Then later that week when an intruder goes right into the bedroom and shoots someone in the groin and apparently takes nothing, that is also not a robbery that's a premeditated murder; when a star NFL player gets killed in this fashion its an assassination. This was a deliberate and premeditated murder. While its easy to get mad, I think its better to just remember the person Sean Taylor was. Rest in Peace Sean, you were a true Redskin and much more. You proved that a man can change his life for the better and for that you should be remembered.

EDIT 12/19/07: Apparently the Taylor family has stated that they believe the attack was not an assignation but a robbery. That the knife left on the bed was a kitchen knife used to pry things open, that the phones were just not working, and that the first police report did not indicate stolen goods because Sean wasn't around to identify the stolen goods. Whatever the case may be, I hope the Taylor family can eventually forgive the men responsible and that people remember Sean by the positive direction he steered his life in.

Sean Taylor Shot at Home

DC Local News Channel 4 has reported that a male was shot at Sean Taylor's house at 1:46 am on Monday November 26. News 4 has reported that Sean Taylor was shot in the groin and has been rushed to an area hospital. Fox News Coverage

This is a shame, Sean Taylor has turned his life around and has been a model NFL player for the past two seasons. Our prayers and thoughts go out to ST.

"What, Ninja Tickets is Evolving?!"

Ninja Tickets is continuously updated, however, this last week we've been testing some cool new features:

  1. Price/Quantity Filter added to event pages. (Thanks to KillerStartups.com for suggesting this idea.)
  2. Private Beta testing of a networking tool.
  3. Limited testing/release of eBay tickets indexed for NFL tickets. We will expand this coverage soon and also figure out how to evaluate the value of these tickets--any suggestions please comment.

Stay tuned, Ninja Tickets is indeed evolving.

"Ninja Tickets Says Stop Paying Too Much For Sold Out Shows"

http://ourdigitalmusic.com Ran a great review of us yesterday. Here's an excerpt: "Think of Ninja Tickets as a Google search engine looking for the best ticket prices on the re-sale market….or just think of it as a great way not to pay too much."

Really the whole review is good, but I am a bit biased. They have excellent writers at ourdigitalmusic.com and they cover things that are important to music lovers. It's a really good site that I've added to my bookmark list. I encourage you all to check it out.

NinjaTickets.com is Carbon Offset

While not an official Ninja Tickets position, I believe "global climate change" or global warming to be a serious issue. Not because of Al Gore, but because of my Geological Hazards class I took on SAS. This was an upper level course that rigorously examined data, and its clear the earth is warming and the ability for the earth to distribute this warmth is dwindling.

While its not a big step I personally contributed money to offset NinjaTickets.com's "carbon footprint."

Its a pretty straightforward program, you calculate your carbon footprint and offset it by planting trees or contributing to clean energy research funds.

Day(s) Until Kickoff

Its hard to imagine another summer gone by, but with it comes the NFL season kickoff and Ninja Tickets' release. This season we're going to bring you an innovative way to buy tickets at the best value possible, we're also planning on enchancing the fan experience with live radio shows, sponsored tailgates (i.e. free omaha steak burgers to ninja tix fans at major events-- if you want to be a sponsored tailgator please apply to info@ninjatickets.com), and another feature which we can't disclose just yet. As well we will announce the PS3 giveaway winner sometime in September.

As a Redskins fan I really hope we see a turn around this season. We have alot of promise and I like the naysayers giving the locker room something to get pumped about. I think the season will come down to whether we have some Joe Gibbs magic (e.g. last years dallas game at FedEx). I'm just hoping for a team that can put substainable drives together and remain strong on D.

Anyway, here's to a strong Ninja Tickets launch and a great NFL season.

Mark Brunell Traded to Seattle?

After the best outing by Mark Brunell in the 2007 pre-season 9 News has reported that the Redskins traded him to Seattle for a late round pick. Palmer must have impressed the coaches beyond his first lackluster pre-season performance.

I wish Brunell luck in Seattle, and hope Todd Collins and Jason Campbell both don't go down this season.

EDIT: It now seems that 9 News reported faulty information. It now seems that Brunell and Palmer were competing for their position. Obviously some talks happened since the Seattle Seahawks acknowledged them. I would guess that Palmer blew his third string job as Brunell fought to keep it.

Meet and Greet Redskins at Mortons

I think we got our next prize to give away after the PS3, I'll announce that soon. In the meantime, I saw this posted on extremeskins.com and thought it might be of interest (the event starts at 6 PM).

Monday, September 10th at Reston Town Center- Morton's Steakhouse.

Redskins hanging around the bar, signing autographs, taking pics...pretty cool.

They have been doing it every year...usually, the big stars like Portis and Campbell are not there, but last year I think Chris Samuels, Ladell Betts, Rock Cartwright, Rocky McIntosh, Derick Frost, and others were there.

Pretty cool....usually around happy hour, I think. Which they also offer $4 filet mignon sandwiches and $4 mini burgers....good stuff....really good stuff.

Anyway, I'll post more, if I find out more.

75th Anniversary Redskins Uniform Pictures

The Redskins are celebrating their 75th year in the NFL. Here is a rare picture of their 75th anniversary uniforms. These are leaked pictures, and the Redskins will not confirm that these will be the "final uniform." Likely complementing these uniform tops are the old gold helmets and gold pants.

Casey Bramlet is the World Bowl MVP but will he be the Redskins Number 2 QB?

Casey Bramlet has been tearing up NFL Europa the whole season, which he capped off by bringing Hamburg a World Bowl victory. "Bramlet completed 20 of 27 passes for 347 yards and a record four touchdowns. He compiled a passer rating of 155.5," (AP). With numbers like these, one wonders what is the next step for Casey Bramlet. Withthe Redskins currently overloaded at the QB position, with Jason Campbell, Mark Brunell, Todd Collins, Sam Hollenbach, and Jordan Palmer, one also wonders where Bramlet fits into the Redskins organization.

While the Redskins may entertain trade talks, look for Bramlet to attend Training Camp, and fight for the backup QB spot, against its current holder Mark Brunell. Unless Mark Brunell gets hurt (or is that stays hurt), the QB Roster will most likely be, Jason, Mark, and Casey. If Brunell does not recover from shoulder surgery this offseason we may see Jason, Collins, and Bramlet. As for my opinion, I doubt Casey Bramlet will start at the number two position, not for lack of talent, but because he has little experience in Al Saunders/Joe Gibbs offense.

Regardless, Bramlet has suddenly made preseason interesting.

An Office for Ninjatickets; Lesser prizes given away

Ninjatickets programmers finally have a place to call home in downtown Bethesda, MD. We signed our first lease for a bright 500 square foot space.

In other Ninjaticket news, we gave away wireless xbox 360 remotes to two PS3 Drawing entrants: Jake Edson, and Jennifer Safanova. Other smaller prizes will continue to be given away, in addition another large prize will likely be added away after we give away the PS3 package.

Area 51

With the redskins 6th overall draft pick of Laron Landry playing as number 30 along side Sean Taylor, number 21, redskins fans have labeled the area covered by these two monster safeties "Area 51." - Extremeskins link. While many fans are still weary over last years Adam Archuleta disaster, Laron Landry shows promise of being a much better player.

In ninjatickets news, we're down the final pre-production stretch, expect to find out what ninjatickets.com is very soon...

Ninjatickets.com Announces Advertising Campaign on RangeRovers.net

As a long time Range Rover owner, I can tell you these trucks invoke strong emotions from their owners, both positive and negative. Truly the servicing of these trucks is one of the biggest downsides of ownership. Not only do they require a lot of service but they also command very high prices for it. If I didn't run across www.RangeRovers.net several years back, I doubt I would still own a range rover today. The site has an incredible amount of information from common fixes to offroad upgrades and everything in between (perhaps most notably offroad emergency fixes). Ninjatickets.com is proud to announce an advertising partnership with Rangerovers.net.

Videos

Yesterday after the championships and before the NCAA tournament, it hit me how much I miss watching football. Here are some videos from the web that have helped me through this difficult time...

Jason Campbell's "Bright Future" by Torresa; I'm tired of hearing how good Cutler is, lets be honest Campbell had a better season last year.
http://redskins.torresa.com/videos/data/BrightFuture.wmv

"Urban ninja," what can I say, amazing video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVlGm-s7Lz8

Just a great feel good movie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjV6m-Dj5JY

Great video that I don't think I can directly link to. Explicit lyrics.
search on youtube.com: Redskins "Remember The Name"

"A Ninja Pays Half my Rent," great video, we're going to try to get the director to do some of our commercials.

New Way to Enter the PS3 Giveaway. Redskins Free Agency Moves

As per request of Dylan (he spits hot fire mon), we will now add a new way to enter our PS3 giveaway. In addition to having "I love ninjatickets.com" in your myspace profile myspace users can now join http://groups.myspace.com/ninjatickets to enter the PS3 drawing! If you have "I love ninjatickets.com" on your profile it is worth two drawing entries, if you join http://groups.myspace.com/ninjatickets it is worth one drawing entry, if you do both it is worth 5 entries.

The Redskins will not win this years offseason. Instead of bringing in big name athletes they have chosen to try to keep many core Redskins (with the notable exception of Dockery) while boosting depth at weak positions. The Redskins have (re)signed Smoot and Fletcher. Keep an eye out for another CB trade involving Shawn Springs (perhaps Bly for Springs), as well as moves to bolster the pass blocking of the O-line and the pass rush/run stopping of the D-line. However, if the 'Skins trade away Portis or Betts, they may well win this years offseason too. In my opinion this would be a grave mistake as much of the identity of the team lies on the shoulder (pads) of these men.In a related rumour, it seems that the Redskins may pick the best athlete for their sixth overall draft pick and try to trade him for other picks or players. Grumblings have been heard that the Redskins will not go after a DE, but instead will turn to a QB (Quinn) in hopes of trading him away. As well, many are hoping that the 'Skins will trade down for more picks, we will see what happens on April 28.

What is RecentFiles.com?

Part 2 of our website reviews focuses on www.recentfiles.com

This was made by Quiktix, LLC. CTO, Dan Marsh for his own personal use, but he has been kind enough to open it up for a limited public release.

What is RecentFiles.com?

RecentFiles.com is a place to store your school files as you move around. Maybe you started working on something at the computer lab, and you want to take the file home. Just log in and store the file.

Norv Turner heading to San Diego

Perhaps I should have titled this blog, "Norv Turner heading to San Diego as Head Coach." After 12 abysmal years of being an NFL Head Coach, recently ending his stint with the 49ers, Norv has managed to land yet another head coach position (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norv_Turner). If Norv can not produce with superbowl caliber talent, I venture this could (should) be his last chance at head coach.

It seems after so many years of failure at head coach and many great successes at offensive coordinator, one should realize that he should be an offensive coordinator; however, this personal lucidity seems to elude Norv.

Norv should have been hired as San Diego's offensive coordinator, not head coach.

Ninjatickets.com release party announced. What is The College Forecast?

Ninjatickets.com is hosting a release party this Summer on Maryland's Easton Shore (think Wedding Crashers). Invitations are expected to be mailed in the next 90 days. Activities will include boat rides, tennis, volleyball, live bands and DJ's, Real Eastern Shore food (think blue crabs), and full bar (think hypnotic, hey its got to match the crabs right?).

My friend Brian Whittaker is rocking this free college music site. Let me know what you guys think of it. Here's the address and a letter he wrote about it for the blog. If you would like your site on this blog, please let me know and I might put it up if its a good site.

http://www.thecollegeforecast.com/

Hey Cliff,

Here is some info I grabbed from the site you could use in ur blog, if you need more lemme know brotha thanks again.

The College Forecast is a free online community where college musicians can post their music for the world to hear. Unlike other online networks, The College Forecast is strictly about music.

College Musicians:

* Sign up for free
* Create a profile
* Upload your music for everyone to hear
* Create a network of fans
* Chat on The College Forecast Boards

Music Lovers:

* Sign up for free
* Create a profile
* Browse through our library of songs
* Become fans of artists and rate them
* Chat on The College Forecast Boards

Enjoy!

Our goal is to promote the music and talent of college students around the world. If music is an interest of yours, you have come to the right place. What’s the story behind the college forecast, what’s it all about? The musical talent of an R.I.T. student inspired the creation of The College Forecast. The creator believed his roommate had the potential to produce songs catchy enough to be heard on the radio. Unfortunately, he had no connections in the music business that could share his roommate’s talent with the world. And with that The College Forecast was born.

Marty Schottenheimer fired.

Marty Schottenheimer was fired from the San Diego Chargers after leading the team to a league best regular season record of 14-2, and losing to the New England Patriots in the AFC playoffs. After hearing the news, I have to ask, was Danny boy (Snyder) right to fire him in the first place or did the Chargers make a huge mistake?

I think the jury is out, after seeing Peyton Manning win the Super Bowl, I think its possible for Marty to win one too. On the other hand he only seems effective when the front office has a tight leash on him and doesn't allow him to employ his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews to run the rest of the team.

Whatever the story is, I have a feeling that there's a fair amount to this iceberg that the public is not privy to.

Getting Windows Vista x64 and Palm Pilot to Work together

-by www.ninjatickets.com Copyrighted 2007-02-08

After many hours of struggling with palm and Vista x64 I think I have finally figured out how to make them work together. I haven’t seen this on the web anywhere, so please forgive me if I’m repeating someone else.

First as you know Vista x64 does not support USB hotsync but does support Network hotsync. So set up a network hotsync by pointing your Palm to the ip address of the computer you’re running palm desktop on. This is covered by others so I will move on.

Second download the newest version of Docs to Go, the one that came with your palm will only cause failures on Vista. Right click on Docs to Go, hotsync manager, and palm desktop and select the following for each properties -> compatibility -> check the box for run in compatibility mode and select XP SP2. Right click each again, and click “run as administrator.” Also if you see any miss-pointed shortcuts (not including the x86) its best to correct them now.

Third make sure Docs to Go is open before you start a hotsync, and make sure you have at least one new entry on the palm pilot. That is edit anything on the palm from calendar, or contacts. Make sure no Docs to Go entries are currently open.

This should work to hotsync a newer palm with Windows x64.
